I painted these Freesia flowers on a very dark and rainy winter's day in Aberystwyth, west Wales.
It was much like the sort of weather we have been having lately this February with week after week of rain.
I brought these flowers into my studio in a simple jar and set up some lighting to focus on the colours and create soft shadows on the wall.
The close observation and focus of painting flowers like this puts me in a dreamlike, flow state.
I would like the meditative painting to create a calming space, an uplifting moment for you.
